JOB GOAL:
Performs routine custodial activities at an assigned school

site or facility to maintain buildings and adjacent grounds

areas in a clean, orderly and secure condition.


TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Performs routine custodial activities at assigned District school site; sweeps, scrubs, mops, waxes and polishes floors and vacuums rugs and carpets in classrooms, offices, workshops and other assigned work areas; spot cleans and shampoos carpets; glues and performs carpet stretching and repairs as assigned.
  • Cleans and disinfects drinking fountains, sinks, toilets, showers and urinals; cleans mirrors, tile and windows.
  • Reports safety, sanitary and fire hazards to appropriate authority; reports and recommends need for maintenance repairs to appropriate authority; maintains security of buildings; reports suspicious or unauthorized individuals on campus; reports infractions or rules to supervisor.
  • Washes windows and walls; cleans chalkboards, trays and erasers and empties pencil sharpeners; assembles, moves and arranges furniture, supplies and equipment in preparing classrooms and multi-purpose rooms for special events or meetings.
  • Locks and unlocks doors and gates as appropriate; maintains security of assigned areas according to established guidelines.
  • Collects trash and debris around school grounds and in buildings; sweeps and cleans walkways and entrances.
  • Operates cleaning equipment as assigned.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Job Summary

How you will make an impact:
You will be responsible for heavy cleaning work including the cleaning of all hard floor surfaces, the cleaning of all surfaces that must be reached by ladder or scaffolding and the collection and removal of garbage from drop points to a garbage bin or compactor.

As a Heavy Duty Cleaner, you will:

  • Dry mop, wet mop (wash/scrub) and polish hard surface floors. The washing/scrubbing of floors is done with handheld or walk-behind buffing machines.
  • Strip and finish hard surface floors manually or with power equipment when required
  • Transport garbage from drop points to garbage bins or compactor; operate the compactor and be responsible for cleaning the compactor on regular basis
  • Transport maintenance machinery, where necessary, between floors and job sites
  • Clean glass areas requiring ladders, scaffolding or other extension equipment to reach
  • Clean washroom floors including washing, stripping, and finishing
  • Clean stairwells and elevator cabs where ladders are required
  • Wash walls, ceilings and dust ceiling light fixtures and ceiling fans
  • Use pile lifting equipment to restore certain types of carpet
  • Shampoo broadloom and uses extracting equipment to clean broadloom
  • Comply with H&S regulations and company policies


About you:

  • Previous cleaning/housekeeping experience is required
  • Ability to comprehend and communicate detailed instructions orally and in writing
  • Ability to multi-task and establish priorities
  • Highly motivated and able to work independently
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent time management skills
  • Must be able to use cleaning equipment
  • Physical ability to carry out duties of the position

In this role you will:

  • Administer hand soldering of electronic assemblies.
  • Maintain complete job tracking information on Production Apps.
  • Prep and populate electronic components and circuit boards.
  • Complete the Through Hole and Final assembly of our products in a production environment, adhering to our Product Quality guidelines and testing procedures.

Position Overview

The Department of Caretaking within Facilities is currently seeking Full-time Regular Caretakers.

The Caretaking department is responsible to provide a professional, efficient and cost effective cleaning service to the campus buildings in which cleaning functions are performed on set schedules. Work is carried out on a 24-hour basis, 365-days per year. Caretakers are expected to be available for any shift in the operational day.

Daily Supervision is provided by an in-scope Supervisor.

This part-time position is a part of the AUPE Collective Bargaining Unit. Staff will be required to work a variety of shifts, including days, afternoons, nights, weekends and paid holidays. Transfer to other shifts, with notice, is a possibility. There is a potential for emergency callouts. Heavy lifting and use of ladders are required.

Position Description

Summary of Key Responsibilities (job functions include but are not limited to):

  • Full cleaning of washrooms and showers including partitions, fixtures, dispensers, floors, walls
  • Cleaning of offices
  • Removing waste and recycling in accordance with established procedures
  • Wet and dry mopping of floors
  • Spray buffing of properly cleaned floors
  • Vacuuming of all carpeted areas, mats, furniture, partitions
  • Carpet extraction and routine cleaning of carpet areas, furniture and partitions
  • Cleaning of entrance doors, glass and partitions
  • Stripping and waxing of hard surface floors
  • Cleaning of elevator interiors and doors
  • Cleaning of walls, ceiling fixtures, vents and diffusers
  • Dusting surfaces at various heights
  • Cleaning of all ancillary furniture and equipment owned or leased by the University
  • Other general duties as assigned

Qualifications / Requirements:

  • Completion of Grade 12
  • While previous Caretaking experience would be an asset, related experience will be considered
  • Must have a good physical health and endurance, have the strength and stamina to lift and carry heavy materials (up to 25 lbs or 11.5 Kg) and perform repetitive physical tasks involving bending, stretching, walking and kneeling
  • Willingness and availability to work a variety of shifts, including days, afternoons, nights, weekends and paid holidays
  • Ability to climb ladders to a maximum height of 10 feet
  • Safety conscious and wear required personal protective equipment when on the job
  • Ability to understand both verbal and written information, instructions and ideas presented and have ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand (English language proficiency will be assessed at the time of the interview)
  • Proven record of working successfully in a team environment
  • Must have proven record of providing superior customer service including customer needs assessment and meeting quality standards for services
  • Basic computer skills are required
  • This position would not be suitable for someone with plant, dust or chemical allergies or sensitivities

Compensation Rate: $20.42/hr + Mileage Reimbursement $0.55 cents/km

Coke Canada Bottling Merchandisers work in local grocery stores helping our clients keep Coke Canada Bottling products fully stocked and available to consumers – keeping beverage sections, end caps, racks and displays filled. Merchandisers are our frontline ambassador, providing superior service to clients and consumers.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and replenish products in store racks, shelves, displays, and coolers by transporting product between backroom/storage room to front-of-store with manual or powered equipment (pallet jack, hand-truck).
  • Build, change or remove product displays while adhering to company standards; maintaining product signage; cleaning product space and securing damaged or defective product.
  • Repetitively lift, carry and position product (weight up to 50lbs or 22kgs) above shoulder height without assistance
  • Consistent kneeling, squatting and reaching above the head
  • Manage backroom by organizing stock (product); identifying, monitoring, and reporting inventory levels; evaluating and processing damaged product; re-packing product; organizing backroom materials (i.e., pallets, product shells etc.); completing any required paperwork
  • Follow all Coke Canada Bottling and Store policies regarding backroom, display floor, replenishment, equipment, and safety
  • Maintain an orderly and clean work area in compliance with Company safety and sanitation requirements.
  • Maintain professional relationships with co-workers and customers.
  • Ability to push and pull manual and powered equipment (i.e. pallet jack, hand-truck etc.) containing product loads for a minimum of 100 yards without assistance
  • Ability to repetitively grasp and manipulate objects of varying size and weight requiring fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination
  • Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time

Qualifications

  • Must have access to a personal vehicle for use during working hours
  • A valid driver’s license with a clean driving record with no major violations over the last three (3) years
  • One (1) year experience working in grocery, retail, warehousing or related field preferred
  • Experience working with manual or powered pallet jacks preferred

About This Opportunity

As a General Labourer, Warehouse you will be responsible for physically handling products, materials, supplies and equipment. Using an electric/manual pallet jack, you will pick our customers order based on the information you have in your handheld scanner. Once your pallet/order is complete you ensure it is wrapped, labelled and prepared to be shipped.


Wage: 
$15.33/hr
Hours: Approximately 20-40 hours per week
Shift: Mon-Fri 8am-4:30pm.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare orders based on provided summary to accurately build orders for loading onto delivery trucks.
  • Where applicable, utilize voice picking software to build orders at or above company standards for productivity and accuracy.
  • Responsible for building, accurate, quality product orders, and ensuring they are secure for transport before being loaded into the truck for delivery to Coke Canada Bottling customers.
  • Capable of operating industrial powered equipment such as pallet jacks and hand trucks.
  • Responsible for meeting daily productivity requirements.
  • Move product and/or materials manually as required
  • Responsible for staging completed pallets in designated shipping areas.
  • Consistently bending, kneeling, climbing and lifting 50+ pounds

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma Preferred;
  • Prior warehouse/production/equipment service experience
  • Ability to operate a manual / powered pallet jack or lift product
  • Demonstrated attention to detail
  • Forklift certification is a plus.
